Healing Circle Meditation
Explain overall structure.
First half - we will receive healing from God.
Second half - we will extend healing to our brothers.
Through out the session, we will focus on just one thought. We will visualize a bright, magnificent, radiant, golden light, just like the sun in the sky.
In visualising this light, we will be looking past all illusions, looking upon the face of Christ, and joining with the reality of God’s Son as God created him.
If you haven’t already, please put yourself on mute, so we can continue in silence.
Let’s close our eyes and pray together.
Opening prayer
Father,
We are on earth only to be truly helpful.
We are on earth to represent You Who sends us.
We do not have to worry about our sustenance nor about our function
because You Who sends us will provide for us and direct us.
We are content to be wherever You wish, knowing You go there with us.
Father, we will be healed as we let You blaze into the world through us. [CE T-4.XI.8:2-7]
Amen.
Opening meditation (10 mins)
Now we begin the first part of the meditation where we will receive healing from God. Bring to the mind the bright, magnificent, radiant, golden light, just like the sun in the sky. This is our altar to God, the quiet place within the mind where He abides forever. Feel its warm healing rays shining on you and say this to God...
The step we take today, our Father, is our sure release from idle dreams of sin.
Your altar stands serene and undefiled.
It is the holy altar to our Self, and there we find a vision of ourselves as You created us.
Let us relinquish all we think we know and understand [as being real].
Let us forget the images the world presents and sink down in our minds.
Just like a pebble falling through the ocean….
Going down…. and down…. and down… till it gently comes to rest on the ocean bed.
Here is an ancient peace we carry in our hearts and have not lost (Based on CE W-164.4:2).
Let us come to this holy place and spend a while together.
[Pause]
Here, we see an altar to our Father, holy as Heaven, glowing with radiant purity.
Upon this altar is the storehouse of miracles… miracles that we have given other minds and those that they have given us.
So, let’s take a moment to think of times in our lives where we have given miracles to other minds… (pause)
Let us also not forget the times where other minds have given miracles to us…. (pause)
[Pause]
Now if we are carrying any illusions—any images of the world, any idea of countries or citizenship, any glimpses of breaking news, any perception of bodies be it of world leaders or movie stars or family members or yourself, any emotions that come from possession or loss of worldly things including pets or any desire that is not for God, even if it is simply a desire for a comfortable life on earth which secretly contains within it the desire to be a body, the desire to overcome Christ—let us lay them now upon the altar, next to the miracles. (I acknowledge this may feel like a lot to give up and I appreciate your willingness to go deeper into true prayer.)
[Pause]
Let us watch as the healing brightness of the miracles shines these illusions away.
[Pause]
Now are we one in thought, for the toys of fear have gone.
“And here, before the altar to one God, one Father, one Creator, and one Thought, we [names of participants] stand together united as one Son of God.
“Not separate from Him Who is our Source, not distant from one [mind] who is part of our One Self” [CE W-187.10:2-3].
We stand in blessedness, beholding how immaculate is the holy altar on which God has placed Himself.
We realize we are seeing our own purity, our own lovely holiness.
We behold the fact that, in this vision of ourselves as God created us, we are already healed, whole, and complete.
[Pause]
Let us spend a while, then, standing before this altar, where healing was laid for all of us.
[Pause for 5 minutes if time permits]
Now are we healed, and now we go to heal the world.
Extension of healing
(10 mins)
I will invite you to gently open your eyes and go through the names of your dream figures, replacing each name mentally with a spark of light. I will give us a minute to do so.
According to the Song of Prayer, we cannot pray for others because there are no others. If we pray for dream figures, we make them real. So we will not pray for world leaders, enemies or friends. Instead, we will pray that we no longer imprison Christ in these forms. This is true prayer.
So let’s close our eyes, and behold that spark of light and pray together:
Father,
³Let me behold my savior in this one You have appointed as the one for me to ask to lead me to the holy light in which he stands, that I may join him there. [CE W-78.8:3]
Amen
Now we begin the acceptance of Atonement. Bring to mind once again the bright, magnificent, radiant, golden light, just like the sun in the sky. This is the vision of God’s Son as God created him. Focusing on this vision is how we will receiving healing from him.
<music restarts>
Hear the Son of God speak to you,
I look past each body that you make… because I know, with conviction, that it is not there.
It doesn’t matter what kinds or degrees of sickness with which you endow these bodies.
I place all of them in one category: “they are as unreal as the body.”
[Pause]
Now hear him again,
I look past your beliefs… that you are somehow no longer as God created you, that somehow you are different… as if these mistaken beliefs are not even there.
It doesn’t matter what these beliefs have done in your mind, or how enormous their effects appeared to be on the Sonship.
I evaluate none of that.
[Pause]
Having completely overlooked the bodies and your mind that holds these bodies, I look upon the vision of God’s Son shining in front of me.
I gaze in rapture before the radiant light of Who you really are.
[Pause]
You are my perfect equal, not in any way different from me.
What differences can there be, when they are no bodies?
[Pause]
And I am joined with you, for the Christ I look on is my own true Self as well.
[Pause]
Understand that in this vision “Healing is done, for what is perfect needs no healing, and what remains to be forgiven where there are no illusions?” (ACIM, P-2.VII.8:5).
[Pause for 5 minutes if time permits]
Finally, let us ask this Son of God for our own healing. Repeat after me,
Give us your blessing, holy Son of God.
We would behold you with the eyes of Christ,
and see our perfect sinlessness in you. [CE W-161.13:2-3]
Closing (2 minutes)
“As we come back to our awareness let us remember that we are holy Sons of God, created in the image of our Father. Our healing comes from being receptive to how God sees us, and healing is always certain. See and feel the light of Christ shining in you, and extending from you, encompassing all those you will encounter today and every day. Amen.”
You may now open your eyes.
